What’s Moving the Market This Week

Copper is holding steady in Chicago this week, with bare bright at $4.70/lb and #1 copper right behind at $4.60/lb. If you’ve been sitting on a clean copper load, these are solid numbers to bring it in on. Aluminum cans are still paying slightly above sheet aluminum, so it’s worth sorting your aluminum before you come in. Non-ferrous prices like copper and aluminum track daily commodity markets and can shift during the week. Ferrous prices are more stable, and our iron and steel rates tend to hold through the month. Tips for Getting the Best Payout

Clean material pays more. Strip your copper wire, pull the fittings off your copper pipe, and keep your aluminum grades separate. It takes a few extra minutes at home but it adds up fast on the scale. We grade everything when you pull in. The cleaner you come in, the faster the process and the better your check.
