Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of copper scrap in Chicago this week?

As of April 27, 2026, we are paying $4.90/lb for bare bright copper, $4.80/lb for #1 copper, and $4.70/lb for #2 copper. These rates reflect current Chicago market conditions. Prices can shift mid-week - call (773) 345-8610 for the latest before you head in.

Do you pay cash for scrap metal?

Yes. We pay cash on the spot for every load, every day we're open. No waiting, no checks in the mail. Bring your metal in, we weigh it, and you walk out with cash. It's that simple.

What is the difference between #1 and #2 copper?

#1 copper is clean copper pipe or wire with no fittings, solder, paint, or insulation - it's the top grade and pays the best rate. #2 copper has some oxidation, solder joints, or minor contamination. It still pays well, but not as much as bare bright or #1. If you're not sure what grade your copper is, bring it in - we'll look it over and tell you exactly what you've got.
